Applying
for scholarships can be a real hassle if you are not prepared. This
is a list of documents that you may need in addition to the scholarship
applications. Some applications may require only part of the list,
but if you fill out applications for all of the local scholarships,
you will need all of the listed items.
If you do not have documents such as a birth certificate or social
security card, you will need to request them from an agency. This
can take some time so be sure to start gathering them well in advance
of the scholarship deadline.
As you collect these documents, you should make several copies of them
and put each kind in a separate labeled file folder. That way, when
you are done filling out an application and are ready to include the
required documents, you can pull them from their labeled file folder
and save having to search the entire house to find them. If you come
across a scholarship application that requires a different document
not found on this list, make copies of it and put them in a file folder
labeled for that document. This way you will be ready if it is asked
for as part of another application.
